DIY Whipped Mango Butter (NO Shea Butter & NO coconut oil)
I have enjoyed watching Naptural85’s hair journey. She grew out a long healthy mane of hair utilizing mostly natural hair products. When she shared her DIY Mango Hair Butter recipe, I was excited. She demonstrated how to make it in a YouTube video, but there was so much more information that I NEEDED to know.
Mango Butter contains setaric acid which coats the hair and locks in moisture without weighing it down. Palmitic acid helps to soften and soothe hair and skin. Palmitic acid can help build a fatty barrier, that prevents bacteria from entering the hair and scalp.
Mango butter is a great choice to maintain or improve the condition of your hair.
Like where to find all the ingredients to make? All the measurements are in grams, which is ok if you have a food scale. What if you are only working with measuring spoons and cups?
Before we dig deeper into Naptural85’s mango hair butter recipe, let’s discuss what it takes to make a basic DIY Mango Hair Butter Recipe.

I wasn’t sure how often I would be making this DIY body butter, so I explored options to buy the ingredients in smaller quantities.

Butters and Oil for DIY Hair and Body Butter from Etsy
I purchased all of the butters and oils for this recipe from Etsy. This recipe requires a total of 13 ingredients, and the only ones I had on hand were avocado oil, and Olive oil. That meant I needed to purchase 11 ingredients to make this recipe, and I wanted to do this without breaking the bank. So I purchased just enough butter to make 2 batches of this DIY Recipe. One of the great things about Etsy is that I was able to find the butters necessary for this recipe in small quantities. Just enough to test out this recipe without breaking the bank.
How to Store Whipped Mango Butter
One of the great things about this homemade Whipped Mango Butter is that it is free from preservatives. It should last at least two months. I purchased small 2 oz cosmetics jars to store my whipped body butter. The cosmetics jars that I used can be found on amazon. Check the current price of these cosmetics jars.
Using this recipe I was able to fill about 2 and a half of these cosmetics jars.
Does Naptural85 Sell her DIY Whipped Mango Butter
Given the number of ingredients, and the effort it takes to make this DIY Mango Hair Butter. I wanted to know if I could buy this product somewhere to try it, rather than trying to make it at home. Naptural85 has her own hair care line, they do not sell this DIY Mango Hair Butter, the hair care line does however sell a Twist Elongating Hair Cream.
Naptural85 does not sell her DIY Mango Hair butter, but she does have a haircare line called Melanin Hair Care. Melanin Hair Care features a Twist Elongating Styling Cream. The Twist Elongating Styling Cream is different from this DIY Mango Hair Butter. One noticeable difference between this DIY Mango Hair Butter and the Twist Elongating Styling Cream, is that the Twist Elongating Styling Cream contains Shea Butter as its primary ingredient.
The Twist Elongating Styling Cream does contain some Mango Butter and Cocoa Butter. It also has many of the oils used in this DIY and Aloe Vera. The Twist Elongating Styling Cream appears to be a nourishing product, but there are differences between it and her DIY Mango Hair Butter. If your hair tolerates Shea Butter, and you’d prefer not to DIY
